At City Life we regularly challenge ourselves with the question, “How am I doing?” (2 Corinthians 13:5). We believe that if the below core values- we call them “pathways”- are active in our lives, we will find ourselves walking in the purposes and promises of God!
We commit personally and corporately to the study of the Word of God with expectation of Holy Spirit inspired revelation.
(Deuteronomy 6:6-9; Psalm 119; John 16:7-15; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We commit personally and corporately to being faith filled, fervent, continual, and heartfelt in our expressions, petitions, and supplications to God.
(2 Timothy 1:3; I Thessalonians 5:17; Matthew 6:5-13; Mark 9:23)
We commit personally and corporately to having a lifestyle that glorifies God, expressive in praise and adoration, ultimately, in everything we do.
(Psalm 150:6; Colossians 3:23)
We commit personally and corporately to being responsible, above reproach, in the gathering, keeping, handling, and distribution of all the resources belonging to God and entrusted to us.
(Psalm 24:1; Mark 12:1-9)
We commit personally and corporately to giving liberally, both of all we have and all we are, and fully embracing the Biblical (Old and New Testament) concept of tithing as for today, understanding that what we give to God is sacred and redeems what remains in our possession.
(Mark 10:29-30; Mark 12:41-44; Leviticus 27:30; Proverbs 3:9-10; Malachi 3:10; Matthew 23:23)
We commit personally and corporately to never being exhaustingly demanding of ourselves and congregation as we are to build and not fracture, to be life giving and not life draining.
(Exodus 20:8; Hebrews 4:9)
We commit personally and corporately to actively, prayerfully, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to reach both the spiritually lost and the disillusioned follower of Christ, here and abroad, and connect them with a local church family.
(Ecclesiastes 3:11; Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 15; John 17:3; Romans 10:13-15)
We commit personally and corporately to building genuine, vital, vulnerable, meaningful relationships with people in our church family, and the broader Christian community, both partaking and sharing in the joy of Christian friendship.
(John 13:34-35; Acts 2:46-47; Ephesians 4:3,16)
We commit personally and corporately to a weekly gathering time, also joining together for special events, where our whole church family comes together, creating a crowd, in celebration of the eternal life we have now and forever.
(Matthew 5:1-2; Acts 2:1; Hebrews 10:25)
We commit personally and corporately to a consistent routine of sacrificially giving up life sustaining activity, pursuits of entertainment, and other matters unique to our human experience but always in a responsible, self-respecting way and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
(Joel 1:14; Matthew 6:17-18; Mark 9:29)
We commit personally and corporately to discovering how the unique, God-given spiritual gifts, passions, abilities, personality, and life experiences shape us for participating in the ministries of our church and the vocational pursuits to which we have been divinely called.
(Exodus 36:1; Romans 12:4-8; I Corinthians 12)
We commit personally and corporately to living an open, authentic, life that is vulnerable to people who are trustworthy and dedicated to keeping us in check in regards to all matters of our personal and public lives.
(Ephesians 5:21; James 5:16; I Peter 5:5)
